What to know

The Pensioner Concession Card is the most widely accepted card for energy help. It qualifies for the main electricity concession in every state and territory, from $285 a year in NSW to up to $1,200 in the Northern Territory.

Most concessions are claimed by giving your card details to your electricity retailer, but some states pay through a government agency. The table lists every program open to Pensioner Concession Card holders, and pensioners also receive the federal Energy Supplement with their pension.
