How energy rebates work in South Australia

The Energy Bill Concession of up to $291.27 is open to Pensioner Concession, Low Income Health Care and Commonwealth Seniors Health Card holders, and to people on payments such as JobSeeker and Parenting Payment. Medical heating and cooling adds another $291.27, and the Cost of Living Concession pays $270.60 into your bank account.

Concession holders can also take up the SA Concessions Energy Discount Offer with Origin. If you face disconnection, a financial counsellor can apply for an Emergency Electricity Payment. ConcessionsSA is on 1800 307 758.

For context, a home using 4,000 kWh a year on the regulated price pays roughly the amounts on our South Australia electricity rates page. Concessions are taken off that.
