How energy rebates work in New South Wales

Most NSW rebates are claimed through your electricity retailer, but a few, such as the Family Energy Rebate and the Seniors Energy Rebate, are applied for online with the NSW Government. Embedded network customers in apartments, villages and parks apply online for all of them and are paid into their bank account.

Several rebates can be combined. A concession card holder with a medical need and a gas connection could receive the Low Income Household Rebate, the Medical Energy Rebate and the Gas Rebate, up to $680 a year between them. The NSW Government's Savings Finder can help check what you qualify for.

For context, a home using 4,000 kWh a year on the regulated price pays roughly the amounts on our New South Wales electricity rates page. Concessions are taken off that.
