About the Family Energy Rebate
The Family Energy Rebate is for NSW households that received the Family Tax Benefit in the previous financial year. It is worth up to $180 a year for retail customers and up to $198 for embedded network customers.
If you already get the Low Income Household Rebate, the Family Energy Rebate drops to a partial payment of $20, or $22 in an embedded network. That stops the two main rebates being paid in full to the same household.
You need your Family Tax Benefit for last year to be finalised before you apply, which means lodging your tax return first. Applications for 2026-27 stay open until 15 June 2027.
