- Emergency bill helpIf a crisis means you cannot pay your power bill, every state has some emergency help.
- Embedded network concessionsIf your electricity is billed by a building owner, park or village rather than a retailer, concessions work differently.
- Seniors energy rebatesWhat older Australians can claim on power bills depends on which card you hold and where you live.
- Energy upgrade discountsCutting your usage is the most lasting way to lower bills.
Before you claim
Most bill concessions are claimed by giving your concession card details to your electricity retailer, which checks them with Services Australia. Some programs, such as NSW's Family and Seniors Energy Rebates or WA's medical subsidies, are applied for online with the government. Our guide on how to claim a concession walks through the process.
The federal Energy Bill Relief Fund ended on 31 December 2025, so there is no automatic credit on every bill in 2026. If you are struggling now, see emergency help with bills and our hardship guide.
