How energy rebates work in Northern Territory

The NT electricity concession is worth up to $1,200 per household per financial year, the largest cap in the country. It is applied by Jacana Energy or Power and Water once you give them your NT Concession Scheme membership number.

Membership is open to long-term NT residents receiving the Age Pension, Disability Support Pension, Carer Payment or single Parenting Payment, or holding an eligible DVA card.

For context, a home using 4,000 kWh a year on the regulated price pays roughly the amounts on our Northern Territory electricity rates page. Concessions are taken off that.

How to claim

  1. Check which programs fit

Use the table above, or the rebate finder, to see what matches your card and circumstances.

  2. Have your details ready

Your concession card, your latest bill with the account number, and medical forms where needed.

  3. Contact your retailer or apply online

Most bill concessions go through your retailer. Some programs are applied for online with the government.

  4. Check your next bill

Make sure the concession appears. If it does not, call your retailer.

Struggling to pay?
