How energy rebates work in Western Australia

The Energy Assistance Payment of $377.14 is the core concession, and families can add the Dependent Child Rebate of $396.56 for the first child. RevenueWA runs separate subsidies for life support equipment and for people with thermoregulatory dysfunction.

If you fall behind, the Hardship Utility Grant Scheme can pay up to 85% of an overdue bill once a payment plan has been kept for 90 days. RevenueWA's energy subsidies line is 08 9262 1486.

For context, a home using 4,000 kWh a year on the regulated price pays roughly the amounts on our Western Australia electricity rates page. Concessions are taken off that.

How to claim

  1. Check which programs fit

Use the table above, or the rebate finder, to see what matches your card and circumstances.

  2. Have your details ready

Your concession card, your latest bill with the account number, and medical forms where needed.

  3. Contact your retailer or apply online

Most bill concessions go through your retailer. Some programs are applied for online with the government.

  4. Check your next bill

Make sure the concession appears. If it does not, call your retailer.
