About the Energy Assistance Payment
The Energy Assistance Payment is $377.14 a year from 1 July 2026. On Synergy's Home Plan A1, a home using 4,000 kWh a year pays about $1,766, so the payment covers about 21% of the bill.
The Commonwealth Seniors Health Card qualifies here, unlike in several other states, but the WA Seniors Card does not on its own. If Synergy or Horizon Power bills you directly, contact them to have the concession applied to your account. RevenueWA pays it to households billed by anyone else, such as caravan parks and some apartment complexes.
Families can add the Dependent Child Rebate, and the 2026-27 WA Budget funded a 10% boost to the payment, the child rebate and the air conditioning allowance, along with an extension of the Energy Ahead program.
