About the Winter Gas Concession
The Winter Gas Concession applies to mains gas bills for the period 1 May to 31 October, when Victorian gas use peaks. It takes 17.5% off gas usage and service charges, after any discounts from your retailer.
The first $62.40 of the six-month winter period is not covered; this is worked out as a daily amount on each bill. Very high users, whose bills from 1 May to 31 October 2026 exceed $2,598.58, need to apply for the Excess Gas Concession to keep receiving it.
It sits alongside the Annual Electricity Concession, which covers power bills all year. If you are on bottled LPG rather than mains gas, see the Non-mains Energy Concession instead.
