About the Life Support Concession
Victoria covers the electricity cost of three machines, each using at least 1,880 kWh a year: intermittent peritoneal dialysis machines, oxygen concentrators and haemodialysis machines. The discount equals the cost of 1,880 kWh a year, or 470 kWh a quarter, at your retailer's general domestic tariff.
At the Victorian Default Offer usage rates of about 26 to 32 cents per kWh, that is worth roughly $490 to $600 a year. The exact figure depends on your retailer's tariff. Haemodialysis users can also get a concession on their water bill.
The Medical Confirmation Form you fill in also registers your address for life support protection, so you are warned before planned outages. Non-mains customers, such as in embedded networks, apply for the Non-Mains Life Support Concession.
