About the Medical Cooling Concession
The Medical Cooling Concession gives a further 17.5% off electricity usage and supply charges from 1 November to 30 April, on top of the Annual Electricity Concession. Over summer, an eligible household effectively gets 35% off.
Six conditions are pre-approved: multiple sclerosis, lymphoedema, Parkinson's disease, fibromyalgia, post-polio syndrome and motor neurone disease. A doctor still needs to confirm the condition. Other conditions can be approved by the department.
It applies to mains electricity. People in embedded networks should ask about the Non-mains Energy Concession instead.
