About the Victorian Energy Upgrades
Victorian Energy Upgrades is open to every household, with no card or income test. Accredited providers apply the discount upfront, so you never claim a rebate later. The Victorian Government says 2.4 million households have used it.
The biggest discounts are on heating, cooling and hot water. The government says upgrading to an efficient reverse-cycle air conditioner can save up to $1,610 upfront and $460 a year on bills, and a heat pump hot water system up to $630 upfront and $400 a year.
From early 2027, new Victorian rules start requiring some appliances to be replaced with efficient electric models when they fail, and set minimum standards for rentals. The discounts can help meet those rules.
