All of South Australia's reticulated gas networks are run by Australian Gas Networks, including Adelaide, Mount Gambier, Port Pirie, Whyalla, the Riverland and Murray Bridge. Retailers set their own prices.

Gas plans charge a daily supply charge plus a rate per megajoule (MJ). Most use stepped blocks, where the first slice of gas in each billing period costs more than the rest, and many charge more in winter. That is why a low first rate does not always mean a cheap plan.
