About Alinta Energy
Alinta Energy changed hands in 2026. Singapore-based Sembcorp Industries completed its purchase of Alinta on 11 June 2026, buying it from Hong Kong's Chow Tai Fook Enterprises, which had owned it since 2017.
On the east coast, Alinta sells residential electricity in NSW, Victoria, south-east Queensland and South Australia. Western Australian households cannot choose their electricity retailer, so this page covers Alinta's plans in the national market only.
