About AGL

AGL Energy is one of the three largest electricity retailers in the eastern states, alongside Origin and EnergyAustralia. It is listed on the Australian Securities Exchange and also owns large power stations, which lets it balance wholesale price swings across its business.

AGL sells residential electricity in NSW, Victoria, south-east Queensland and South Australia. In the ACT it is a 50/50 partner, with the ACT Government's Icon Water, in the ActewAGL retail partnership, which trades under its own name.

Like the other large retailers, AGL publishes a wide range of plans: flat and time-of-use tariffs, plans for solar homes, and plans tied to other products. Many of its plans carry eligibility conditions, so the cheapest plan open to any household is the fairest comparison point.

AGL prices in each network

Electricity prices depend on your network, so the same retailer charges different amounts in different areas. The table shows AGL's cheapest flat-rate plan open to any household in each network, priced at 4,000 kWh a year, against the regulated reference price for that network.
