About Aurora Energy
Aurora Energy is owned by the Tasmanian Government. It was formed on 1 July 1998 when the old Hydro Electric Commission was broken up, and it remains the main electricity retailer in Tasmania.
Its standing offer prices are regulated by the Office of the Tasmanian Economic Regulator. A handful of retailers, including Solstice Energy, 1st Energy and CovaU, now offer alternatives.
