About the BYD Battery-Box
BYD is a Chinese maker of electric vehicles and batteries. Its home Battery-Box uses lithium iron phosphate cells, the same family used in its cars.
Because it works with several inverter brands, the Battery-Box is a common choice with premium hybrid inverters. Check the inverter is on BYD's compatibility list for the module type you choose.

What a BYD Battery-Box costs
Installers set their own prices, so get quotes. As a benchmark, the Solar Choice Battery Price Index (August 2026 data) puts the average installed price of a 12.8 kWh battery with its own inverter at about $10,381, after the federal discount and including GST. With an existing compatible hybrid inverter, the battery-only price applies.
