About Synergy
Synergy is owned by the Western Australian Government. It is the electricity retailer for households on the south-west interconnected system, which covers Perth and the south-west of the state.
WA households cannot choose their retailer, so the choice that matters is the tariff. Synergy's flat Home Plan A1 suits most homes, while its Midday Saver time-of-use plan charges a much lower rate from 9am to 3pm and more from 3pm to 9pm.
Synergy prices for 2026-27
| Tariff | Usage | Supply |
|---|---|---|
| SynergyPerth and the South West (SWIS) | 33.26c | $1.19/day |
| Horizon PowerRegional and remote WA (A2 tariff), for comparison | 33.26c | $1.19/day |
Under the state's uniform tariff policy, Synergy and Horizon Power charge the same household rate, so a home in Broome pays the same price per kWh as one in Perth.
Synergy also sells a Midday Saver plan with a cheap rate from 9am to 3pm, a higher peak rate from 3pm to 9pm, and an off-peak rate overnight. See our peak and off-peak times guide.

Can you switch away from Synergy?
No. Western Australia's household market was never opened to competition, so the retailer is set by where you live. What you can choose is the tariff.
Solar feed-in tariff
Synergy DEBS buyback: 10c for exports between 3pm and 9pm, 2c at other times. Last confirmed by Energy Policy WA; check Synergy for any change. At 2-10c per kWh, using your own solar is worth far more than exporting it, because every kWh you use from your panels saves the full 33.26c usage rate.
