About Ergon Energy

Ergon Energy's retail business is owned by the Queensland Government through Energy Queensland. It supplies households across regional Queensland, roughly 97% of the state by area.

Under the state's uniform tariff policy, the Queensland Government subsidises Ergon so regional households pay prices similar to south-east Queensland. Because other retailers cannot match the subsidised price, very few compete in the Ergon network. Origin is one that does.
