About the Energy Bill Relief Fund
The Energy Bill Relief Fund put rebates on the electricity bills of every Australian household from July 2024. Its final extension paid up to $150 per household from 1 July to 31 December 2025, applied automatically in two quarterly instalments of $75.
It ended on 31 December 2025, and the federal government ruled out a further round. If your bill went up in early 2026, the missing $75 quarterly credit is one reason.
Concession card holders still have their state rebates and concessions, which are often worth several hundred dollars a year. Use the rebate finder on this site to see what applies to you.
Who can get it
- The fund gave rebates to all households with an electricity account, not just concession card holders.
- It ended on 31 December 2025. There is no federal energy bill rebate for 2026.
How to apply
- There is nothing to apply for now. The last round was applied automatically to bills.
- For help in 2026, check the state rebates and concessions on this site, and ask your retailer about its hardship program.
How it is paid: Previously as automatic credits on electricity bills.

Moving or switching retailer?
Concessions applied by your retailer do not always move with you. When you move house or switch, give your card details to the new retailer and check the next bill. See how to claim a concession.
Other national energy help
- Cheaper Home Batteries Program: About 30% off, tiered by battery size from 1 May 2026.
- Energy Supplement: $14.10 a fortnight for a single pensioner.

Common questions
Not from the federal government. The Energy Bill Relief Fund ended on 31 December 2025. State and territory concessions continue for eligible households.
Up to $150 per household for 1 July to 31 December 2025, paid automatically as two $75 credits.
One reason is that the $75 quarterly federal rebate stopped after December 2025. Price changes on 1 July and changes to your usage also matter.
